“Coding and OASIS review” means different things at different vendors. Vendors differ on whether the OASIS review is a separate line item, whether they code from the full record or the OASIS alone, and what comes back with the codes. Before you compare prices, it helps to know exactly what should be in the box. This is what Codexpo includes with every order, and why.
1. A review of the whole record, not just the OASIS
Codexpo reviews the referral records, hospital notes, physician documentation, medication details and the OASIS before coding.
2. OASIS review — included, not sold separately
The OASIS is compared with the rest of the record, and anything missing, unclear or inconsistent is flagged for your clinicians. At Codexpo this review is part of every order — coding only, 485 only or the bundle — at no separate charge. It is not available as a standalone scoring service, and there is no OASIS line on your invoice. Read more on the OASIS review page.
We do not change your OASIS. We return findings and correction recommendations, and your agency decides what to do with them.
3. Diagnosis coding and sequencing
A coding order covers primary and secondary ICD-10 diagnosis coding and sequencing. Codexpo codes directly in your EHR, and the case comes back with sequencing notes.
4. Documentation gaps flagged for your clinicians
Every return includes the discrepancies we found. Flags are specific and actionable; they are not a generic audit report. Each service page shows an illustrative, fictional example of a returned case, such as the one on the ICD-10 coding page. Final review and approval stay with your agency.
5. A clear process when something is missing
If required records are not available, the case is placed on hold and we identify exactly what is needed in the case thread. Time on hold does not count toward turnaround, and the due date is adjusted accordingly. A reply does not resume processing on its own: our staff review the reply and clear the hold once the requested information is sufficient. If a reply is incomplete, the case stays on hold and we follow up with questions in the same thread.
6. Corrections inside the case
If something needs fixing after the return, you request it from the case in Boltflo and the same team handles it. Corrections, holds and messages do not create additional cases or charges — one case is one work order for one patient’s SOC, recertification or ROC.
7. The 485 plan of care, if you order it
A 485-only order or the Coding + 485 Bundle adds the draft and review of the plan of care, prepared in your EHR from the reviewed record and returned to your agency for review and approval. Codexpo does not sign or finalize the 485. See the 485 Plan of Care page for what is reviewed on the 485.
What it costs and how long it takes
Codexpo’s rates are $50 per case for ICD-10 coding, $25 per case for the 485 Plan of Care draft and review, and $70 per case for the Coding + 485 Bundle — all with the OASIS review included. Coding is returned within 2 business days, a 485-only order within 3–4, the bundle within 5–6 business days in total. Full detail is on the pricing page, and the step-by-step workflow is on How It Works.
Questions to ask any vendor
Is the OASIS review included or a separate charge? Do you code from the full record or from the OASIS alone? Where is the coding entered — in our EHR or in a document we have to transcribe? What exactly comes back with the codes? What happens when records are missing, and does the clock keep running? Who approves the final result? If the answers are clear, you can compare prices on equal terms.
